چکیده مقاله:

Purpose:The regeneration of axon and myelin sheet after crush injury of peripheral nerves involves interaction of several types of cells, including Schwann cells, monocyte, macrophage and fibroblast. Among them, haematogenous macrophages invading into the peripheral nervous systein play a major role in myelin uptake during Wallerian degeneration. Materials and Methods: In this study 35 C57/BL6 male mice 10 weeks old were used and classified in 7 groups of 5 mice. The localization of epidermal-type fatty acid binding protein (E-FABP) in the mature mouse sciatic nerve after crush injury was examined by immuno-light microscopy. Results: Numerous macrophages immunopositive for both anti-E-FABP and F4/80 a macrophage marker. were found in degeneration process of sciatic nerve. Macrophages contained phagosomes of various sizes and they were regarded as those actively involved in the phagocytosis of sciatic nerve debrise. Conclusion: The present detection of E-FABP immunopositivity selectively in invading macrophages suggests possible involvement of E-FABP and/or its fatty acids ligand in the process of peripheral nerve regeneration.

Solution structure and backbone dynamics of human epidermal-type fatty acid-binding protein (E-FABP).

Human epidermal-type fatty acid-binding protein (E-FABP) belongs to a family of intracellular 14-15 kDa lipid-binding proteins, whose functions have been associated with fatty acid signalling, cell growth, regulation and differentiation. As a contribution to understanding the structure-function relationship, we report in the present study features of its solution structure and backbone dynamics...

Crocin Enhanced Functional Recovery after Sciatic Nerve Crush Injury in Rats

Objective(s): Crocin is a constituent of saffron and has many biological functions. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of intraperitoneal (IP) injection of crocin on sciatic nerve regeneration in male Wistar rats. Materials and Methods: Fifty-four rats were divided into 9 groups: groups 1-4 (intact + normal saline and intact + crocin at doses of 5, 20 and 80 mg/kg, respectively)...

Morphological and functional aspects of sciatic nerve regeneration after crush injury.

Experimental models for the investigation of nerve regeneration are critical in studying new strategies able to promote the repair process. The aim of the present work was to characterize morphological and functional aspects of sciatic nerve regeneration after mechanical crush injury in rodents. Morphological changes were assessed after a four minutes sciatic nerve injury induced by means of a ...

Effects of feed restriction and dietary fat type on mRNA expression of liver fatty acid-binding protein (L-FABP) in broilers

Background: Liver fatty acid-binding protein (L-FABP) is the main cytosolic binding site for long chain fatty acids in hepatocytes. FABPs enhance the uptake of fatty acids into the cell by increasing their concentration due to decreasing concentration of unbound fatty acids inside the cell. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of dietary unsaturated to saturated fatty a...
